Cement type and strength class
Different cements, such as Portland Type 1, Portland Type 2 and Portland limestone cement, use different materials and production steps, so their prices differ. The strength class, for example 42.5, also affects the price.
Bulk, bagged or jumbo bag
Bulk cement has no bag or packaging cost and suits large orders. Bagged and jumbo bag cement carry packaging costs, but are easier to handle and store for many projects.
Order quantity
For bulk orders, sales terms and the cost per tonne usually differ from small purchases.
Freight cost
A significant part of what the buyer pays is freight from the plant to the project site, and the longer the distance, the larger this share. That is why the ex-works price differs from the delivered price in different cities.
Market and construction season
Demand for cement rises in the warmer months when there is more construction work. Production costs such as energy and transport also affect the price. In Iran, part of cement sales takes place on the commodity exchange, where the price of that share is formed in exchange offerings.
